Motorcycle Tour of Tuscany

Central Essentials

24 September - 2 October 2022

This motorcycle tour covers the heart of Italy. It does not only cover Tuscany, but also the best of the central Italian locations and ties them together with some incredible riding. The best scenery, the best roads, the best sites, incredible food and wines. We ride the "you can't miss" roads of Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Lazio. We stay in the historic towns of Orvieto, Siena and Cortona always for 2 nights, making it a very relaxed tour, but one that will arouse all of your senses. The best tour to start your love affair with Italy. Once you do this tour you'll be hooked. Nothing will ever quite match the riding, the scenery, the history, the food and wine like this tour.

On day 1 we shall ride out of Rome on a Sunday morning and ride to the volcanic lakes of Bracciano and Vico, visit the amphitheatre of Sutri and visit the dying village of Civita di Bagnoregio before reaching Orvieto as our first double night stopover in the historic centre right by the Duomo (cathedral), a real masterpiece!

Day 2 will see us ride to Assisi and back over Monte Peglia. Once we have visited the basilica of Saint Francis, we shall head to Montefalco and then back to Orvieto via Todi.

We transfer to Siena on day 3, finally reaching Tuscany as soon as we pass the third volcanic lake north of Rome, lake Bolsena. We also manage stops in Pitigliano, Radicofano and Pienza before reaching Siena across the barren hills of the Crete Senesi.

Day 4 offers a good opportunity to take some time off riding and visiting the splendid city of Siena and its monuments and treasures. For those who want to ride out of Siena you are spoilt for choice. We suggest a route to the south and west covering Montalcino, San Galgano and San Gimignano. Some truly amazing riding and the classic Tuscan rolling hills.

On day 5 we ride Chianti as far as Florence and view it from Piazzale Michelangelo. We then ride south again into Chianti and reach our overnight stop in Cortona.

Another opportunity to relax "Under the Tuscan Sun" in this interesting small Tuscan town on day 6. A loop ride will be available over two of the most amazing roads in central Italy on the way to Valentino Rossi's birth place, Urbino. These two roads are known as Bocca Serriola and Bocca Trabaria, and make up the Italian Nurnburg Ring.

Day 7 has arrived and we must make our way back to Rome. But the fun isn't entirely over at least until we don't reach Narni and Calcata about 40km from our hotel. Before then we ride the SS71 and the SS205 to Amelia along the Tiber valley. Great roads to end one of the best weeks riding in Central Italy.
