Classic
Umbria and Marche weekend
Tour dates:
24 -
28 May 2012
23 - 27 May 2013
A great ride in
the regions of Umbria and Marche. Not as well known as Tuscany,
this more central and more mountenous region of Central Italy
offers great scenery, incredible small towns such as Gubbio,
Trevi, Spoleto, Norcia and many more, fantastic food and great
wines! The roads are great too as Umbria and Marche don't not fall behind
Tuscany in terms of twisties!
We all meet at
the
tour hotel in Rome on Thursday evening, have dinner
together and chat about the ride.
On Friday
morning early we pick up the bikes and head out of town at around
10am, when rush hour traffic has died down and we get a clearshot
at getting out of the Eternal city.
We head for Perugia,
our base for this trip. We stay right in the centre in a 4 star
hotel with wellness centre and heated swimming pool.
On Saturday
we shall cover the roads that head north from Perugia and visit
Gubbio and Urbino before making our way back to the hotel.
On Sunday
the loop takes us to Assisi and then to the heights of the
Sbillini mountains to visit the amazing area of Castelluccio di
Norcia.
On Monday
we pack our stuff and head back to Rome, but in the process we
shall ride to Montefalco, Trevi and Spoleto before returning to
Rome along the Tiber Valley. We should be back in the late
afternoon. The hotel is not included for this evening, so if you
need accommodation do let us know.
