Cinque Terre, Langhe and motor museums

This is a 6 day motorcycle tour to Cinque Terre and the area of the Langhe in Piedmont. We start and end in Milan. Our first two days will be dedicated to the Langhe area, where some of the most famous Italian red wines come from, Barolo and Barbaresco. It is an area of rolling hills, vineyards and castles, a true Italian orchard.
Once we leave the Langhe we head for the Italian Riviera and spend a full day in Cinque Terre, exploring this famous Italian coastline. From here we cut back north across some incredible twisty roads to Modena where we make base to visit Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Ducati before returning to Milan.

Day by day:

Day 1: We set off from Milan and head to a location north west of Milan called Arese. Here we shall visit the Alfa Romeo Museum. Our ride then really sets in and we head south west across the rice fields of the Pianura Padana. The rice produced here is what you will eat in Italy's famous risotto dishes. The first hills we meet on our path are those of Monferrato just before reaching Asti. Once we pass Asti we enter the Langhe area. The Langhe are an incredible area where probably the most important wines in Italy come from. Just to name two: Barolo and Barbaresco. But this region is also famous for its wallnuts (Nutella was invented here) and for the rare and expensive white truffle of Alba. The landscape here has been harvested like an orchard for centuries and offers endless rolling hills with castles and vineyards.

Day 2: We spend the entire day riding around the hills of the Langhe, visiting vineyards and castles, tasting the food and the wines (in the evening). We shall be staying in an agriturismo that produces its own Barbaresco wine.

Day 3: From Piedmont we head south east in direction of the Italian Riviera. We skip the big city of Genova following minor twisty roads and visit Portofino, Camogli and reach Sestri Levante, our base for the next two days.

Day 4: An entire day dedicated to exploring Cinque Terre. We have a ride planned but if anyone wishes to hike they are free to take the day off and do so. We shall roam around all the way from Levanto to Portovenere and return to Sestri Levante.

Day 5: We leave the coast and head inland. Our destination is the small city of Modena. Modena is famous for its balsamic vinagre, and because it is set in between Parma, famous for its ham (Prosciutto di Parma), and Reggio Emilia, famous for its parmesan cheese (Parmiggiano Reggiano), it offers amazing food. It is also the perfect base to visit Ferrari, Lamborghini and Ducati in rapid succession which we shall do on the following day.
